Proper Door Installations
What to look for in a proper door installation. From rolling steel garage doors to spring attachments.
1. Durability. This company needed to get very wide loads into their building. They needed something that would stand up to much use.
2.Proper Application. Notice how the tracks on this door are raised up past the height of the door. This allows all of the space inside of the warehouse to be maximized.
3. Adequate Hinge Support When a sectional door is closed, the balanced weight of the door is resting on the ground. But when it is open, the weight of the whole door is being held up by the end hinges. That is why it is important with wide doors to have double end hinges. 3" Track is more rigid and will support the weight of the door much more than standard 2" track.
4. Proper Track Installation If the is allowed to flex or bend, more pressure will be put on the end-hinges causing them to bend and break. Center-hung horizontal tracks prevent this unnecessary situation on high and wide doors. Installing 3" inch track is another way that you can prevent service calls during the life of the door.
5. Proper Spring Installation One of the most common reasons for a service call is improper spring application and installation. If a door is used 10 times a day or more, it should be installed with High-Cycle springs. It certainly is worth the minimum extra cost. But also a good installation will insure that the entire counterbalance system (springs, shaft, bearing plates and drums) are all perfectly horizontal. THIS IS CRUCIAL!
